cloth
Story
Warm, soft, and high-quality: these are the qualities that define cloth. Traditionally used to protect against the cold, this timeless fabric is reimagined at Santamarta and transformed into upcycled mini skirts, sweaters, and other pieces designed to provide comfort, ease, and freedom of movement.
Impact
Wool was traditionally the main fiber used to create cloth. This process involves sheep, and other different animals that need to be fed up and grown in industrial-scale farms where most of the times animal welfare is not secured. Furthermore, this industry is highly pollutant due to livestock farming, which demands significant quantities of resources.
As a cheaper alternative in recent years cloth is also made with synthetic fibers as acrylic, that comes from non-renewable resources. Therefore, it ultimately does not solve the problem and reduces quality. Upcycling is a way to elongate good quality wool lifecycle.
